Directed and storylined by Nathan Russell-Raby and produced by Christopher Beauman, 3 Wheeling is a feature-length docu-reality film that captures the fierce rivalry between reigning world champion Tim Reeves and all-time sidecar racing legend Dave ‘Moody’ Molyneux as they compete at the Isle of Man TT — widely regarded as the most dangerous race in the world.
Filmed during the 2016 racing season, the production dives headfirst into the high-stakes drama of sidecar racing, offering an unprecedented look behind the curtain. With its sleek production values and cinematic scope, 3 Wheeling transcends the typical sports documentary to become a gripping portrait of rivalry, passion, and the relentless pursuit of greatness.
The film's compelling narrative and adrenaline-fueled action helped it secure over 150 commercial screenings in cinemas across Britain and Germany. Upon its Amazon Prime and Apple TV release, the film reached a global audience, amassing 1.45 million page likes thanks to the fervent support of sidecar fans.
Financed by Beaumanx Productions and produced in association with North One Television, Blue Olive Productions, Greenlight TV, Encore Post, and the Isle of Man Government, who backed the film for its potential to promote the Isle of Man TT and showcase the island’s rich motorsport culture.
Innovative production techniques, including hidden multi-cam setups and lavalier microphones, provide fans with a raw and intimate perspective on the rivalry, both on and off the track. While the clash between Reeves and Molyneux drives the film’s core tension, the story is balanced by the heartfelt contributions of team managers Andy Faragher and retired world champion Klaus Klaffenböck, whose warmth and dedication add a human dimension to the relentless drive of racing.
